Because the national park is only 200 km away from Victoria Falls, many visitors to Zimbabwe like to combine the two destinations in one safari itinerary.
Famous for its herds of elephant, Hwange National Park is home to the Big 5, although the rhino population has dwindled over the last couple of years and rhino sightings have become rare. Wild dogs, however, roam the park in packs and it's not unusual to spot any number of these endangered animals while out on game drive.
