More about this accommodation
The ridge behind Morukuru, which is sometimes used as one of their bush dinner venues, offers one of the best viewpoints over the Madikwe Game Reserve. There are three luxurious safari lodges in the Morukuru Family, each with its own style, charm and distinctive bush décor:
a) Owner’s House
Shaded by an ancient Morukuru tree, Owner's House is an exclusive, intimate 2-bedroomed villa, suitable for two to four guests in mirror-image presidential suites. Probably the most spacious and lavish of the villas, every comfort has been catered for: fireplace, sliding-door insect-proof screens, the latest in digital home and office technology, two private viewing balconies, custom wine cellar and the famed bushveld bath with a backdrop of cascading water from the rim pool.
b) River House
With three spacious, en-suite bedrooms, River House is ideal for groups of 4 – 10 (it can sleep a maximum of six adults and four young children). Set on the banks of the tranquil Groot Marico River, it has a study/kids’ room, a heated infinity pool with private viewing decks, indoor and outdoor showers, fireplaces, home entertainment systems, office connectivity, books, CD and DVD libraries, on-site spa therapies and all you could ask for to make your stay wall-to-wall special.
c) Farm House
The newest addition to the Morukuru Family, the restored former Farm House has five sumptuous, en-suite bedrooms and is available for a group of four to 10 guests exclusively. It's thoroughly modern, light and spacious, with its glass-fronted rooms offering endless views over the surrounding African bushveld.
Morukuru is a Special Safari Lodge
In 2015, Morukuru Family was welcomed to the Tripadvisor "Hall of Fame". This unique accolade is granted only to those businesses that have won a Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence for five years in a row.
This confirms what guests have to say about the Morukuru Family. It constantly receives rave reviews for outstanding excellence, incredible service and warm, friendly staff. Clearly, they go the extra mile (or two) to ensure that you have the safari experience of a lifetime.
The Morukuru Family is actively involved in giving back to the local community and its wildlife. They support the local communities through education, empowerment and encouragement, assisting with recycling initiatives, donating books to school libraries and sponsoring soccer gear for tomorrow’s stars. Projects involving removal of alien vegetation provide employment and protect the indigenous flora. Assisting with Parks Board projects like darting, collaring and relocation of animals helps conserve the delicate ecosystem of Madikwe Game Reserve.
Getting to Morukuru

Our take on Morukuru Family Lodge
An upper end, luxury option, Morukuru offers an outstanding safari experience with all the personal care and attention you and your children could hope for. Morukuru Family Lodge invites all its guests to complete a Wish List prior to their arrival and makes special deliveries based on this. Their promise is “Your Wish is Our Command”. Clearly they are delivering over and over, which shows in their rave reviews.
We were very impressed with Morukuru and have no hesitation in recommending these superb malaria-free safari lodges, particularly if you're looking for a small, exclusive safari to celebrate family occasions or simply to spend quality time with your favourite people.
