Itinerary

Day 1

Depart from Johannesburg around 08h30 am, or from Nelspruit at 1pm (same cost). We drive through the scenic province of Mpumalanga to the entrance of the Kruger National Park. The transfer is conducted in a luxury air-conditioned minibus. When we get near the Kruger National Park, we transfer to an open safari vehicle to continue our journey into the Park. Our first game drive begins as we enter the gates and make our way to the first overnight camp. We use some of the most popular camps in the Park, situated in excellent game viewing areas. Dinner is enjoyed in the camp restaurant, or takes the form of a traditional South African braai (barbecue).

Day 2

Rise with the sun to enjoy your first full day of game viewing in the Kruger National Park! On one of the mornings, there will be opportunity to participate in a guided bush walk, led by an armed ranger from the Parks Board. This is not compulsory, but it is included in the price of the tour. On a bush walk you will be able to appreciate the smaller wonders of the wild, tracks left by wild animals, interesting plants and how they can be used, and with some luck you may be able to see some wild animals while on foot.

We return to camp for a well-earned brunch (late breakfast), and spend some time relaxing in camp. You may watch animals from the viewing deck, take a siesta in your air-conditioned bungalow, cool down in the swimming pool, or browse through the curio shop. In the afternoon, we head out on another game drive, looking for the Big Five and other animals like giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and various antelope species. We return to camp by sunset. Dinner is again enjoyed outside around the fire, or in the camp restaurant.

Day 3

Today is devoted to game viewing, and this is also the day that we pack up and make our way to another camp, in a different area of the Park (subject to accommodation availability). This gives you the opportunity to experience a variety of habitats and vegetation types, which usually means slightly different game viewing opportunities.

Day 4

Similar to day 2 and 3 in that our time is spent game viewing. The best times to do this is in the early morning and late afternoon, when the sun is not too hot. Along the way we visit waterholes, view points and beautiful picnic sites, where we can stretch our legs (during game drives, we are not permitted to alight from the vehicle except in designated areas). On one of the evenings, a night drive with spotlights is included. These are conducted either at sunset, or late at night, by one of the Kruger Park's rangers on an open truck, using powerful spotlights to try and find some of the more elusive nocturnal animals.

Day 5

Our last day in the bush, and time for a final early morning game drive in search of any animals that may have eluded us thus far. After brunch, we make our way toward the exit gate, where we swop back to a luxury air-conditioned vehicle for the transfer back to Johannesburg. Normally we arrive back in Johannesburg between 4pm and 5pm.

Feedback Related To 5 Day Best of Kruger Safari

How was our trip ?? FANTASTIC !!!

We understand that nature has no schedule and that due to the size of Kruger, there is no guarantee on what or when you can see things. But we can honestly say that our trip exceeded our expectations !!  The wildlife is the main reason to go to Kruger, but THE KEY to a successful and most memorable adventure is THE GUIDE.  Simon was exceptional.  Not only was he a walking encyclopedia and wealth of knowledge on the animals and birds, he also predicted their habits.  We saw the Big 5 many times, and many times they were up close and personal.  Simon's ability to spot these animals with his own eyes was remarkable.  Everything went smoothly from the pick-up to J-burg to the return to J-burg airport.  I would not hesitate to recommend  Wild Wings to anyone going to Kruger.

Feedback Related To 5 Day Best of Kruger Safari

Hi Dianne

We had a great time on our safari.  I have many positive comments.  I truly appreciate your attention once you took over our trip and was very pleased that you emailed me prior to our departure from home and called to make sure Simon had picked us up.

I cannot say enough about Simon. He was fantastic. He was very knowledgable, enthusiastic, and easy to get along with. The kids loved him and we all learned a lot from him. He had a true love for his job and the Kruger Park, and it was infectious. After  a full day of game drives he was out looking for scorpions, owls, and bush babies!  He truly spoiled us for any future guides and the kids have already said they want to go on another safari with him. We all felt lucky to have been able to have him as our guide. We saw so much more with Simon as our guide and am very glad that we didn't just drive to Kruger on our own.

We also had a good experience at Elephant Plains. The staff was very nice and attentive.  Food was very good and rooms comfortable yet cold. The only negative we had was with our guide (Wayne) who seemed to be going through the motions and we got none of the same enthusiasm from him that we felt with Simon. We only spent 2 days there, 4 game drives, but in that time he made no effort to learn our names and to us it seemed that he just drove around and waited for other guides to radio him with sightings.  That being said it was a good combination of trips and we are very pleased with how it worked out.  When I planned this trip I picked your company "out of the blue" and it all worked out so well.  If you ever need me as a reference I would be pleased to help out. We hope to return to Africa in the future and will definetly look to your company first.

Thanks for everything,

Steve, Mary, Will, and Sam Reichel
