Itinerary

Day 1

We depart at 08h30 from the O. R. Tambo Airport in Johannesburg or any of the surrounding airport hotels. A scenic 5 hour drive brings us to the entrance of the Kruger National Park. Here we change vehicles and continue the trip in an open safari vehicle, perfect for game viewing. We slowly make our way to the camp, looking for animals as we go. Some of the more common animals you can expect to see on the first afternoon include impala, kudu, waterbuck, warthog, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, elephants, hippos, baboons, monkeys and possibly rhinos and buffalos. We also hope to see lions and possibly an elusive leopard or cheetah. We arrive at our camp by sunset and check in. We mostly use bungalows for accommodation, with en-suite bathroom and airconditioning. Dinner will be enjoyed either in the camp restaurant, or under the stars in the form of a traditional South African braai (barbecue). If the weather is clear, your guide may set up a powerful telescope and take you on a guided tour of the African night skies. This interactive star-gazing talk is included free of charge on some of our safaris (subject to guide availability and weather).

Day 2 and 3

We rise early so we can be on the road as the sun rises. This is the best time of day for game viewing, and we are on the lookout for nocturnal animals like spotted hyenas returning their den for the day. While driving around we may stop at waterholes, view points or picnic sites, where you can get out and stretch your legs, and enjoy some refreshments. Breakfast is usually a mid-morning feast, enjoyed at a picnic site somewhere in the bush. There is no fixed schedule to keep, but usually we return to camp late morning, so you can spend the noon hours lazing around the pool or watching animals from the deck. An afternoon siesta is also a popular option. Lunch is for your own account and you can purchase a light meal from the take away deli at the camp. There is also a curio shop with basic supplies in the camp.

In the afternoon we embark on another exciting game drive. As the day cools down, the animals become more active again and game viewing becomes easier. We look for the Big Five and anything else we may find. The excitement of a game drive is that you never know what you will find, and each drive is different. Perhaps we saw giraffe yesterday, but today we may see them drinking, or fighting, or eating from a nasty thorn tree without injuring themselves! Your guide will be able to interpret the behaviour of the animals and share interesting stories and facts about the bush, which makes every drive extra interesting.

We return to camp around sunset and enjoy another delicious dinner around the fire or in the camp restaurant. As an optional extra, you can book a night drive with us in advance on one of the evenings. These are conducted on an open game viewing truck by one of the Kruger Park's rangers.

Day 4

This morning we head out on a final early morning game drive. If we are lucky we may see wild dogs or another rare animal that we have not seen before. After breakfast, it is time to pack up and start heading back toward the gate, where we swop over to our airconditioned minibus for the drive back to Johannesburg. We normally arrive back in Johannesburg between 4 pm and 5 pm, depending on the traffic.

Dear Wild Wings, especially Neil,

My Sister Tricia and I just returned home from the most spectacular "Sisters' Vacation" ever! I just wanted to drop you a note and express my thanks. What an adventure! Neil, you were truly an incredible guide, and cook; thanks for the eggs smile From the open vehicle to the dinners and conversation everything was incredible. I learned so much, I have managed to even my surprise my know it all daughter! We saw it all! The big 5, and the incredible wild dogs, I never dreamed that we would see so much but Neil, you sure knew where to go. Thank you so much for everything, even for letting us help you in the kitchen! I promise it was all voluntary and I really enjoyed it. It gave us more time to chat and learn about the things we had seen that day. There are too few words that adequately express just how incredible this experience was! Thank you Wild Wings, and thank you thank you Neil! What an incredible time! We will be coming again but this time I'm bringing my family!

Dear Dianne,

Thank you for your email and sorry it has taken me so long to reply.  It has been busy since getting back at the start of the year.

The trip was fantastic!  Neil and Valerie were fantastic guides and we had a great trip.  Everything was very organised and Neil had actually checked and seen that my flight had arrived early, so he arrived early at the airport to pick me up.  You could really tell that it was important to him that we had a good trip, and thanks to him, everything went really well and we did.  I actually saw more than I expected to see, but would also love to go back again in another season.  The food was great too!  :o)

I will try to send some photos once I have got them organised--something else on my list.

Thank you again for all of your help with the booking of my trip. I will definitely be in touch if I can manage to fit in another trip!

Kind Regards,

Fiona

Feedback Related To 4 Day Kruger National Park Safari

Dear Dianne,

We want to thank Wild Wings for the wonderful time we had at the Kruger Safari from August 16 to 20. Simon has been a perfect guide, very active and helpful. We were very lucky because we saw many animals, but our luck was well directed by Simon. We will be very happy to recommend Wild Wings to anybody who wish to visit South Africa.

Best regards,

Paolo and Elena Bettini

Feedback Related To 4 Day Kruger National Park Safari

Hi Simon!

We are finally shaking off our jetlag and have accepted the fact that we are no longer on vacation. Thank you for everything, you truly made it a memorable vacation, especially for Amir who was in tears after you left us at the Protea Hotel. He enjoyed being around you more than the safari itself. Personally I (and my wife) enjoyed the "hunt" a bit more. The braais were great as was your endless patience with Amir. Your enthusiasm is addictive and your knowledge completed the whole package making it a wonderful experience. We will definitely contact you again when we plan our next safari. Until then all the best and be well.

Eli, Irit and Amir
