Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Arusha
Our epic 15-Day Luxury Ngorongoro, Serengeti & Zanzibar Safari starts in Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania's Northern Safari Circuit. You will be collected from Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to Arusha Coffee Lodge on the outskirts of town. Arusha Coffee Lodge is tucked away on a beautiful, old coffee plantation and is the perfect place to relax after an international flight.
Day 2 to Day 3
Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, your private safari guide will collect you from reception and drive you to the Ngorongoro Crater. En route, you'll have the opportunity to speak with your guide about the details of your daily game-viewing itinerary.
The Ngorongoro Crater in Northern Tanzania is the world's largest inactive prehistoric volcano. The crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is home to diverse wildlife, including the Big 5 and large herds of wildebeest and zebra. Game drives and picnic lunches on the crater floor, birdwatching, trekking, mountain biking and cultural safaris to a local Maasai village are some of the activities available to visitors.
Your luxury safari lodge, Ngorongoro Lion Paw's Camp, is perched on the eastern rim of the crater and offers the most spectacular panoramic views of the landscape below. Each luxurious en-suite room has a private crater-facing balcony.
Day 4 to Day 6
Northern Serengeti
On the morning of Day 4, you will depart for Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp in the Serengeti, a mobile safari camp that follows the migrating herds of wildebeest and zebra. This is the ultimate authentic tented camp experience, reminiscent of the pioneering safari days of yesteryear. But this is not a camping trip where you'll have to rough it without modern luxuries! Each comfortable tented suite has an en-suite bathroom and a private patio area with chairs and side tables. Meals are home-cooked, and camp staff are friendly and attentive.
Home to over three million large mammals, a safari in the vast Serengeti plains is an unforgettable experience. On your game drives, you may encounter migrating herds of wildebeest and zebra, large lion prides and elephant herds, leopard, rhino, buffalo, giraffes, eland, topi, impala, Thompson's gazelle, Grant's gazelle, hyena and cheetah.
Day 7 to Day 9
Eastern Serengeti
The next leg of your 15-Day Luxury Ngorongoro, Serengeti & Zanzibar Safari begins on Day 7 when you head to Olmara Camp in the remote, wildlife-rich region of Soit le Motonyi in the Eastern Serengeti. This exclusive area, far away from the crowded tourist hotspots, is a hidden gem, previously known only to a select few researchers who dedicated 20 years to studying the big cats in the area.
This region was off-limits to jeep-led safaris for many years but has recently opened up to a limited number of visitors, and you won't encounter hordes of other safari vehicles here. This part of eastern Serengeti, where the acacia woodlands merge with the short grasses of the savannah, attracts a diverse range of wildlife, and you can expect to encounter a wide variety of plains game and thriving populations of predators on your game drives.
Olmara Camp's eight luxury canvas tents provide expansive and unobstructed views of the Serengeti. The spacious, eco-friendly safari tents have net-covered, king-size or twin beds, bedside tables, and lamps. The lounge areas within each tent have comfortable sofas and coffee tables, which create a cosy atmosphere, and the en-suite bathrooms are complete with a shower, two basins, and a flush toilet.
In addition to game drives, Olmara Camp offers professionally guided night walks and fly camping expeditions into the wilderness area north of the camp, where vehicles are not permitted.
Day 10 to Day 15
Zanzibar
After breakfast, you will transfer to the local airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar, where you will be met on arrival and taken to Breezes Beach Club and Spa in Dongwe, a charming seaside resort town on the beautiful eastern coast of Zanzibar.
An hour's drive from Stone Town, Breezes Beach Club and Spa is situated on a spectacular white-sand beach and offers a wide range of activities. From watersports and diving to intimate meals, a swimming pool, tennis courts and a spa, whether you want to relax, be active or combine the two, spending five nights at Breezes Beach Club and Spa is the perfect way to end your 15-Day Luxury Ngorongoro, Serengeti & Zanzibar Safari.
On the morning of Day 15, you will depart from Zanzibar for your flight home (flight not included).
Location, location, location!
This 15-day safari is one of our most popular trip ideas, and as always, the itinerary can be customised to suit your requirements. This tour is not rushed and strikes a good balance between affordable luxury and prime game viewing. The suggested properties are picked primarily for their excellent location, and they are neither the cheapest nor the most expensive properties, but a good mid-range level of luxury. A great location for each lodge or camp is one of the key requirements if you're looking for a great African safari experience, and that is why this tour is always a winner. But take note, availability during peak season is limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
PLEASE NOTE: Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp moves with the migration. The location of the mobile camp at different times of the year will impact the order of your stay at the two Serengeti camps on the itinerary.
