Itinerary

Days 1 to 3 — Cape Town

When you arrive at Cape Town International Airport, you'll collect your rental vehicle (or meet your guide if you prefer a private guided tour throughout) and head to The Last Word Constantia, your 5-star boutique hotel accommodation in Constantia for the following three nights. Constantia is a leafy, sophisticated suburb close to Table Mountain, with easy access to the fashionable shops and chic restaurants at nearby Constantia Mall, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Cape Town's lively city centre, the V&A Waterfront, and many other scenic attractions.

The Last Word Constantia

Your luxurious, beautifully appointed, spacious en-suite room opens onto a private patio leading to a tranquil garden and swimming pool. Each luxury suite has a complimentary tea and coffee tray, under-floor heating, satellite TV, complimentary WiFi, a private in-room safe, air-conditioning, heated towel rails and more.

With The Last Word Constantia as your home base, you can explore the sights and sounds of Cape Town, nearby Simonstown, the sunny beaches of False Bay and other highlights at your own pace. Let us know where your interests lie, and we'd be happy to recommend attractions and activities to enjoy during the Cape Town leg of your itinerary. If you don't know where to start, take inspiration from our Cape Town Travel Guide. We list several things to do and places to go in Cape Town and the surrounding areas.

Cape Town is perfectly safe and easy to explore on a self-drive basis, but for those who don't wish to self-drive, we'll arrange a private vehicle and experienced guide for you who will show you the best that Cape Town has to offer (this will cost extra).

Days 4 to 6 — The Cape Winelands

After breakfast on the morning of Day 4, you'll check out and make your way to the heritage town of Franschhoek in the breathtaking landscape of the Cape Winelands, just over one hour's drive from Cape Town. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, the Cape Winelands region is world-renowned for exquisite food and exceptional wine, and your luxury accommodation in Franschhoek offers the perfect base from which to explore the region's nature, cuisine and culture at leisure.

10 Day Cape Town Winelands Kruger Luxury Tour 1 Franschhoek

Sunset in Franschhoek

Situated in the heart of the village is a beautifully restored 5-star, Cape Huguenot-style boutique hotel that offers sophisticated, spacious, luxury accommodation within walking distance of many internationally celebrated restaurants.

For the following three days, you can set your own pace. Explore the French-inspired village of Franschhoek on foot with its award-winning restaurants, delightful boutiques and beautiful art galleries. Visit world-class wine estates in the surrounding area, where wine-tasting and cellar tours are offered against a backdrop of towering mountain ranges and sweeping vineyards. Or soak up the sun at the poolside patio and courtyard.

We would be happy to recommend culinary walking tours, foodies on foot tours, wine tram tours and wine-tasting tours in the surrounding area. You may also request a dedicated vehicle and guide if you prefer a guided tour rather than a self-drive journey.

Days 7 to 9 — Luxury safari in a private reserve within Greater Kruger

After an early breakfast on the morning of Day 7, you will check out and head to Cape Town International Airport. There, you will return your rental vehicle and catch a direct flight to Hoedspruit (included in the estimated price listed below). Upon arrival at Hoedspruit Airport between 12h00 and 13h00, you will be met by our local representative and transferred by road (included in the price) to Kitara Lodge, your 5-star luxury safari lodge in the exclusive Klaserie Private Nature Reserve.

Kitara Lodge

After you've had a chance to settle in and explore Kitara Lodge, which overlooks the Klaserie River, your luxury safari will begin with afternoon tea and your first game drive in the beautiful Klaserie Reserve. Privately run, Klaserie Private Nature Reserve is home to the Big Five and offers an intimate, uncrowded, and unhurried private safari experience.

For the next three days, you will experience the Greater Kruger's free-roaming wildlife on morning and afternoon open safari vehicle game drives and optional guided walking safaris. Your morning game drives include a tea and coffee stop in the bush. Afternoon game drives include a sundowner stop for drinks and snacks. All game drives are conducted by highly qualified, English-speaking safari guides.

After breakfast, you can retire to your spacious private suite for a siesta or absorb the sights and sounds of the African bush from your private balcony or the inviting infinity pool overlooking the Klaserie River.

Kitara Lodge is an intimate safari lodge with only six luxury, river-facing suites. The en-suite bathrooms have a Victorian bath, double basins and an indoor and outdoor shower.

Day 10

After your final morning game drive (time permitting) and breakfast, it's time to check out and get ready to be met by our local representative at reception for the one-hour road transfer (included in the price) back to Hoedspruit Airport for your flight to OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg (flight not included in the price).

We can assist with booking a flight between Hoedspruit and Johannesburg or Cape Town on the last day. If you're going to book your own flights, please ensure that your flight from Hoedspruit airport departs after 12h30 to ensure you have time to enjoy one last game drive on the morning of Day 10.

Please ensure your homeward-bound flight out of OR Tambo leaves in the evening. It is also possible to fly home the next morning and ask us to arrange one additional night at a convenient airport hotel in Johannesburg.
