One of Our Best Vacations Ever
From Clark McGee, USA, travelled with us during September 2014
Hi Clare,
We had a great time.
The JNB portion of the trip was very enlightening. We were very happy with your recommendation of staying at the Peermont Metcourt hotel, as it was close to the airport (with a airport shuttle) and had lots of food selections. My wife also made use of the casino.
The Apartheid Museum & Soweto tour went well. Our guide (James) provided lots of information and kept it interesting.
After we spent 4 days self driving in KNP, we were ready for some luxury. Gomo Gomo was very relaxing, the food was great. The games drives were good (great guide and spotter) and the water hole was full of activity. I would of never been able to choose a lodge on my own (too many choices and areas). Also the round trip shuttles to/from Gomo Gomo were on time.
We ended the trip in CPT. We really appreciate your assistance. I was originally overwhelmed with choices and information about SA, but with your help and recommendations we were able to enjoy one of our best vacations ever.
I will be submitting a glowing review for Trip Advisor (where I found your company) and of course recommending Wild Wings to any one interested in travel to Africa.
Thanks Again,
Clark
An Amazing Time ...
From Megan Bottinelli, USA, travelled with us during September 2014
Madi,
I just want to say thanks for everything for our trip. We had an amazing time and I am so glad we used you for the safari and all the other adventures. We really enjoyed everything from Victoria Falls to Cape Town and most of all the safari at the end. Simon was an amazing guide and we could not have asked for a better experience. Also, we really enjoyed the accommodations in Cape Town! The Rouge on Rose was an amazing boutique.
Thanks again for everything!
Megan and Brian
Surpassed all our Expectations
From Carolyn Bowers, UK, travelled with us during September 2014
Thank you for organising a wonderful holiday - it surpassed all our expectations.
Rouge on Rose was ideal for us for locality, and Ursula, Michel and their staff were so helpful. The rooms were roomy, comfortable and the breakfasts delicious.
We had a great time with Shawn, we really appreciated his humour, his knowledge and passion for Cape Town and the area. He included visits to bays and areas away from other visitors where we were able to enjoy the peace and take in the beauty of the coast. The whales came out for us and performed at Hermanus. Shawn was always prompt, and his vehicle smart and comfortable.
We loved our time in Cape Town and we were told that we were lucky with the weather - no rain, mostly sunshine - and fantastic views from the top of Table Mountain.
The Panorama Route was spectacular. Perry's Bridge Hollow was comfotable, convenient and we enjoyed our meals there served by friendly staff.
Simon was terrific at finding the animals, naming the birds and giving us so much interesting information in Kruger. We saw so many animals and were very excited. We were impressed with the meals he produced, and his barbecuing skills. I thought Skukuza might be rather large, and impersonal, but the way it was set out was great and in keeping with the area. It was so good to be staying in Kruger rather than having to travel in, especially with our early morning starts.
And then.......we arrived at Kambaku. We were speechless. It was wonderful. From the warm greetings, the lovely staff , their care and attention, the flowers and bedtime stories on the beds ... the total magic of the place. The experience of going out on game drives, off road, with Niel, our ranger, and Eric, our tracker, were beyond any anything we could have imagined. Driving along a narrow bank and along a dry riverbed to watch a leopard and her cub. It was an amazing experience, Niel and Eric were a wonderful team with a wealth of experience and knowlege.
It really was a holiday of a lifetime, and I can't thank you enough Madi for all the time, help and attention you gave to make it so.
With many thanks,
Carolyn (Jeny, Jill and Sue )
So lucky to have had the best guide ...
From Jude & Ken Thomas, New Zealand, travelled with us during September 2014
Hi Madi
Glad you like the photos, too. I’d never seen wild dogs before and we do realise how lucky we are to have seen them.
Your service = “Excellent” and to a very high standard. We happily recommend using Wild Wings Safaris. In fact I have a colleague who is considering visiting Africa next year and I’m recommending she makes contact.
Accommodation = Very contrasting accommodation at Shakuza [Skukuza] and Kambaku but we were very happy with both. We appreciated your recommendation to do both Kruger and a private game reserve as we could see the benefits of both once we reached Kambaku.
Meals = Kruger…Frank’s a great cook – what more can I say!
Meals = Timbavati – Wow great food. Lovely fresh and healthy food.
The Guides – Frank: we are so lucky to have had the best guide. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Frank again. He is very knowledgeable, very passionate about the animals and Kruger, and somehow just pulls it all together so that you see lots of animals, and a range of sightings that make you feel your trip was pretty special. Frank’s an incredibly hard worker as he had some very long days.
Timbavati Guide/Tracker: Both Niel and Eric were excellent. Very knowledgeable and going out of their way to meet your needs as much as possible. We were really pleased that Neil was able to fulfil our wish to see the Hyena den as we saw hyenas and several puppies. The two sightings of the leopard “Marula” were an absolute bonus. We loved the whole “off road” experience. Like Frank, Neil was great at just stopping, cutting the engine and letting you sit and watch the animals.
Game viewing: We are very pleased with the range of animals and birds that we saw. We definitely saw more animals in Kruger but we also had some very good sightings in Timbavati so we are more than happy. Ken has been comparing safari notes with a colleague that did a Top Deck tour and it sounds like we saw a lot more animals.
We did enjoy the Garden Route however I probably wouldn’t go back to that area again but I would do another safari again. I would go back to Cape Town to explore some more and would go to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek to explore the wineries. A local in Cape Town recommended Ken visit the Vintage Car Museum in Franschoek, which he did, and he really enjoyed. We love wine and had not had good experiences with SA’n wine before so we were really pleased to enjoy so many great wines while we were there. In fact 6 of them are now in our wine cellar.
We’re hoping that was only our first trip to South Africa
Kind regards,
Jude and Ken
Wonderful Safari
From Russ Moody, USA, travelled with us during August 2014
Clare,
We just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful safari trip. The camps, transfers, and activities you scheduled for us came together to provide a very enjoyable experience without any glitches.
Thanks for setting up our second once in a lifetime African safari vacation.
Regards,
Russ
Tremendously enjoyed my trip
From Dr Bruce Case, Canada, travelled with us during August 2014
I tremendously enjoyed my trip to Kruger, thank you very much – it made my trip worth the long air trek! Everything was great; Chris (with the shuttle service) was very helpful; the lodge (and food, from our singing chef) was wonderful; the game drives, guides, and viewing were magical (saw lions within two hours of arrival and the next morning wild dog pack hunting, killing, eating (!) an unfortunate antelope.
I would have trouble conveying how magical this experience is to somebody like me who lives in a North American city. It makes me think of childhood and “storybooks” somehow; the simplicity and hyper-reality of “going to see the animals” and then being in their presence... words fail me.
Thank you so much for making this possible!
Everything was perfect!
From Clifford Gordon, USA, travelled with us during August 2014
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Gavin --- Everything was perfect … from our initial contact with you … thru the booking and payment process … with your continual informational emailings … to the actual travel & lodging & safari experience.
I just submitted my Wild Wings review to Trip Advisor … and I submitted a Madikwe Safari Lodge review a day or two earlier. They have not yet been published … so keep an eye out for both 5-star reviews. I submit under the handle ‘TravelFoodWIneGolf’ (which pretty much describes our lifestyle).
Sincerely,
Cliff & Lin (and Gabby)
Dream Trip ...
From Dr L Green, Canada, travelled with us during July 2014
It was a dream trip.
We were met at the Nelspruit airport by our driver Edward. He turned out to be much more than just a driver as he leads game drives and has special skills in bird identification. He was very cordial and prompt.
Nottens was great. The room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable. The food was excellent. They now share their game drives with Sabi Sabi so they have a much larger area to roam. We saw most of what we could hope to see and unbelievably close. I never thought we would have such good looks at leopard. Everyone was nice and helpful.
If we were to return, which we certainly might, we would probably choose Notten's again; maybe paired with another reserve in another area to get a different scene and different wildlife.
Thank you for your help,
LG
[915] Wonderful Experience at Kruger
From Janaki De Silva, Australia, travelled with us during July 2014
Hi Clare
Thank you for a wonderful experience at Kruger that we enjoyed very much. Simon was a very good guide who has a passion for the bush and wild life. He was very keen to give us a good experience in the African bush. We enjoyed his cooking and entertainment. I have attached a video of an elephant encounter. Pl pass this on to Simon.

Absolutely Magic 4 Days
From Gill and Robin Kantor, UK, travelled with us during July 2014
Clare,
As I sit at OR Tembo, I really want to thank you most sincerely for sorting an absolutely magic 4 days. Cape Town was unbelievably tough going and by the time we met Simon, we really needed a big escape- and that's exactly what we got.
Simon was a star- brilliant drives, fantastic having someone with true lens envy to rival Rob's, and not shabby at producing a delicious meal at the end of the day- and we really lucked out with him giving us the whole of Sat. Chasing the wild dog was awesome!
Gap transfers were excellent and the guys super helpful.
Inyati- a very different experience- fantastic game sitings - a leopard with cubs, a leopard kill, leopards with kills in trees, and a leopard strolling through the guest area of the camp site- he just wanted to check what mother hippo and her cub had found so interesting hours before.
The order of events was perfect, the organisation worked and we will highly recommend you and your team to all.
Many thanks
Gill
Ps. Simon, we don't wear shoes at home, so you are welcome to drop in, with or without your tent.

Wonderful Experience!
From Melanie Mitchell, travelled with us during July 2014
Hi Gavin,
We had a wonderful experience at Simbavati! Everything about it was to our liking - the game drives, guide, hospitality and food were excellent. We were also very pleased with the service from your company, too.
We hope to return to Africa again and will book through you again.
Thanks again!
