An Absolute Success ...
From Saskia & Family, USA, travelled with us during June 2015
The entire trip was an absolute success. All of the transfers, accomodations, and guides were excellent. The recommendation you made to split our time between Kruger and a private reserve was perfect. Everything you put together went exactly as planned and we were never confused or unsure about our next step. Thank you for coordinating such a wonderful trip for us!
The Penisula Hotel in Cape Town turned out perfectly for our family. They provided a spacious unit with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms so our family had plenty of room. We had a wonderful balcony and a hot tub which was a special surprise and treat. Our view from the room was spectacular and the location right on the beach couldn't have been better. The hotel staff was helpful and professional. David, who picked us up from the airport, and Sean, who dropped us off, were both timely and delightful. They were patient, helpful and willingly answered our many questions.
Neil and his wife, Valerie, picked us up at the Nelspruit airport. They also answered our many questions as we went from the airport to Kruger. They were patient, kind, timely, and professional. They ensured we had what we needed at Skukuza and that our accomodations met our needs. They were both very invested in having us see as many animals as possible. Neil was especially skilled at understanding how the animals moved so that we could be sure to get the best viewing. Valerie was excellent at spotting animals and was great about answering our questions as well. We saw so many animals in Kruger and I know it's because of Neil and Valerie. The animal book they purchased for us was a wonderful treat and we often referred to it at the end of the evening to check off the animals we had seen. We truly couldn't have asked for a better guided experience of Kruger.
Mandela picked us up from Kruger and drove us to nThambo. He was also our driver for the scenic tour from nThambo to Johannesburg. Mandela was great. His English is excellent and his openness and communication style was so very appreciated. He willingly shared his culture, history, and knoweledge with us. It really added to our experience to have Neil and Valerie's Africaan perspective and then to have Mandela's Changan (sp?) perspective. On our scenic drive, he recommended a wonderful 'pancake house' for lunch and was very patient with us as we shopped in several stops along the way.
Our time in nThambo was really a treat. Kruger was great but it was also very busy. The pace in nThambo slowed us down a bit which was relaxing and offered yet another experience. The setting, ambience, and accomodations were rustic but very comfortable. The unique lodging and common room for sitting and meals really added to the experience. The cook staff did an excellent job with all of the meals and sitting down to dinner with the other guests and staff was very enjoyable. Stopping mid-drive in the morning and evenings for coffee/cocktails was one of my favorite parts of the day. In addition, the walking safari was unique and allowed for a lot of information sharing and questions. Matt, our guide, and Isaac, our tracker, did a great job of finding animals and providing us with a more up close experience than we had in Kruger. Although we saw fewer animals, we were able to spend more time observing the animal activity up close. This was truly the perfect compliment to our Kruger experience.
Lastly, the Peermont Metcourt in Johannesburg had nice accomodations and a very expansive breakfast offering. It was easy to walk over to the casino and try various restaurants. Getting to the airport from the hotel to catch our flight was very convenient.
As you can tell, everything went off perfectly. We all had a really good time and we are so grateful that you put together such a great itinerary for us. The only suggestion we could think to make may be to include something in your trip guide about the purchase of Biltong. We purchased several packages for souveniers making the wrong assumption that because they were commercially prepared, we would be able to take them into the US. Unfortunately, when we arrived in Dallas, customs took our Biltong purchases because meat (even though dried and commercially prepared) was not allowed in the country.
Wild Wings really does have an excellent service and I'm so thankful that we came across your name as we began to investigate our options.
Thanks again for all your help with planning. It truly is a trip we will always remember!
Our (South Luangwa) safari time went off with a bang!
From Georgy & Kate, Russia, travelled with us during May 2015
Hi Madi,
Our safari time went off with a bang and we had no a shadow of doubt in its success cause it had been provided by you and your company!
Our aircraft landed in Mfuwe precisely on time and just after collection of our luggage (which took a couple of minutes) we were warmly greeted by Amon from Tafika camp. Transfer from airport to camp side took about 1 hour 40 mnts and Heather, the reception manager was waiting us at the gate. She revealed that we were the only guests at the lodge, so we enjoyed our “private” accommodation and game drives during all our time at Tafika! Unfortunately we were unlucky to spot any big cats during our 4 game drives, but there were a plenty of other highlights such as small python, chameleon, mantis, some porcupines and genets and a lot of beautiful birds of course. Our guides were Bryan and Amon. And we have never seen any other car during our game drives – it’s a great advantage of Tafica remote location.
After two “VIP” days at Tafika Amon transferred us to Puku Ridge which took about 2 hrs. We arrived just in time for lunch. Puku Ridge seemed more luxurious but far less rustic then Tafica. The view from the terrace of our chalet was fabulous – we could enjoy the game without standing up from our sofa or even the bathtub – elephants, zebras, hippos, buffalo, impala, puku, monkeys, squirrels posed in front. At game drives we watched a 9 lion pride hunting against zebras – but they eventually missed them. Also at night drive we were lucky to see 3 leopards, one of them was eating the killed kudu, the other one was relaxing on the tree. Our guide was Lameck and the manager Levis met and saw off us before and after each drive.
The return transfer to Mfuwe proceeded for just more than 1 hour and our return flight to Lusaka took off also on time. So, many thanks again for your assistance and management, everything passed perfectly.
A great time with Simon at Kruger ...
From Marilyn & Rudy, USA, travelled with us during May 2015
Hi, Maddie, Had a great time with Simon at Kruger. Loved that he is so passionate about the park. Many times he offered his tablet so we could view extra info about an animal. He is very knowledgeable. Also a good cook! Our only question was whether or not we tipped him enough. Thanks for flying us back.
The 'Big 5' were seen within the first 24 hours ...
From Caroline, UK, travelled with us during May 2015
Hi Madi
Thank you for all the seamless arrangements. The airport pick up was perfect, the return shuttle to J'burg great and Kambaku was even better second time around. My guide was Evan and he was just superb and shared his enthusiasm for all things in the bush. I saw a Leopard every single day. The 'Big 5' were seen within the first 24 hours of my being there.
The lodge was lovely and the staff as friendly and efficient as ever.
I will return so please keep me posted when Kambaku has the pay 3, stay 4 deals.
I always recommend Wild Wings and Kambaku to any of my friends considering a Safari.
Best wishes as always
The best holiday we have had!
From Peter & Jackie, UK, travelled with us during April 2015
Hi Madi,
We cannot fault the whole experience. My dealings with yourself since we first thought about a safari, have been excellent, you have been very patient with all of the questions i asked, the safari was put together very well, and everything went like clockwork. From being picked up exactly on time from our guest house in nelspruit, to being dropped off at the airport 5 days later, things could not have been any better!
Simon's enthusiasm and love for all things in kruger came across from our first meeting with him. His ability to take us to see things, not just the ‘big five’ (which we did see by the way, several times!) but the smaller things, birds, butterflies lizards etc etc was magical. Some of the nicest times we spent with Simon were spent just sitting watching, no hurry. We saw a large herd of buffalo this way. we arrived at a deserted waterhole, and sat watching birds, etc, when a whole herd of buffalo arrived in front of us, magical!!
His cooking skills are just as good, he fed us well, and took care of our every need. The accommodation was lovely too, no complaints at all.
Saying thank you to you, the rest of the team, and most importantly Simon, does not really convey our gratitude for this experience. It was, sorry, is, the best holiday we have had!
We will be back, and we will be asking for Simon as our guide again!
The trust I placed in Wild Wings was confirmed once again ...
From Craig and friends, USA, travelled with us during April 2015
Dianne,
We are all back from our adventures and I want thank you so much for putting it all together for us. The trust I placed in Wild Wings was confirmed once again, and with 5 additional witnesses. They could not believe how smoothly things ran. I tried to tell them that that was what they could expect - they just had to experience it firsthand.
Neil was awesome and everyone in the group loved him. We have made Amarula converts of all now. Please pass along to Neil my thanks for a job well done.
Now about Kambaku River Sands - WOW, wow, wow. The group was stunned! The service, the quality of the food, the accommodations, the rangers, you name it and it all far exceeded anyone's expectations. Thank you for that recommendation. If every I am back in that area I will choose Kambaku River Sands.
If you ever have a potential client that needs to hear a testimony please don't hesitate to send them my way.
Thanks again for all you did.
Looking forward to visiting again
From Angie & Claudia, USA, travelled with us during April 2015
Hi Madi,
Thank you for the follow-up.
With regard to the Garden Route tour, again, our guide was absolutely wonderful and we enjoyed to trip. We weren’t able to do Keurbooms due to weather yet our guide took us to Monkeyland and Birds of Eden that day so that we weren’t without an activity and we had a lovely time visiting those.
Thank you for all of your hard work to put together a wonderful trip for us. I’m looking forward to visiting again. I hope the photos properly captured some of the amazing beauty - I think of all the places I’ve traveled, South Africa is the most stunning!!
From start to finish was amazing!
From Craig & Laura, UK, travelled with us during April 2015
Hi Madi!
The safari from start to finish was amazing! Simon was the perfect host and made the whole experience for us. His enthusiasm and drive was infectious and keeps the excitement factor the whole time!
The transfers, camps, food, value for money, everything, was spot on.
We will most definitely be recommending wild wings to people and would definitely use you guys again.
We can't thank you enough!
The experience was absolutely fantastic and well worth it ...
From Ramesh, Canadian, travelled with us during April 2015
Overall, I have to say the experience was absolutely fantastic and well worth it, so thank you!
I stayed at both Greenfire Lodge as well as Mohlabetsi Game Lodge.
The people at Greenfire Lodge were absolutely incredible. Adrian and Kim welcomed everyone like family and gave us a really warm, welcoming and family-like experience. Isaac, our guide, is quite simply a legend and a wonderful person. I loved his stories and his jokes and his insights into wildlife and the bush. It was worth going to the lodge for his stories and personality alone. They do seem to be in a bit of a rebuild (transitioning from the older tent-style lodges to the new construction), and I would say the new style will be a much more modern experience.
I have nothing but the best things to say about Mohlabetsi. The only unfortunate part was when I had to leave after one night, would have loved to stay a week or longer. Was pleasantly surprised to know they had spa and massage facilities for reasonable prices, if I had more time I definitely would have taken advantage of those. The rooms were just incredible, with A/C, outdoor shower, everything one could want. The location is great too, next to a watering hole. I have to point out especially the food at Mohlabetsi, it was beyond spectacular and the best food I've had in a while, their chefs are doing everything right. Also appreciated Karl preparing braai for us on the open fire one night, that was also fantastic. Our driver Solly and tracker did a great job as well, we are able to see 4 of the Big Five on a single game drive! I will be recommending Mohlabetsi to everyone I meet, it was that good.
I also stayed at Peermont Metcourt near JNB. I would say the rooms are ok if a bit small, but it was great to have the casino complex and all the restaurants nearby. I felt too tired to explore Johannesburg on my arrival there, so it was a nice surprise to have the casino complex to pass the time and get some nice food.
The transfers were all very good, no issues there.
Overall a great trip. One thing that I could have done was to get a bit more information about the different lodges and hotels I was staying in, for instance it was a nice surprise to find the casino at the Metcourt as well as the spa services offered at Mohlabetsi. I was a little rushed in the planning of this trip, but now I know what to look for for next time!
Thanks again for your help Madi, it is very much appreciated.
I can't imagine a better guide.
From Ty, USA, travelled with us during March 2015
Hi Madi,
Thanks for following up. We had a fantastic time and Frank was phenomenal the whole trip. I can't imagine a better guide. He tailored the drives to what we were most interested in and stayed out with us the whole day on Day 2 so we could see more. Could not have been more happy with the experience!
We have a ton of really great photos from a brand new high end camera and telescoping lens. I'm happy to share the whole folder if you would like? Below are links to download a video Frank wanted and a few of my favorite pictures.
Please pass them along to Frank and our regards to him! Hope he had a good trip to George!
This safari far exceeded our expectations
From Amanda & Brett, Australia, travelled with us during March 2015
Our 5 day Kruger safari was AMAZING! Thank you to Gavin for booking and organising the safari and a huge thank you to Simon who was an absolutely fantastic guide! This safari far exceeded our expectations (which were set high). Simon showed us many areas of the park which allowed us to view every animal we could think of. He was so knowledgable and was able to show us some amazing sightings! His hospitality was equally as good! The food was great as was his company. We would definitely recommend Wild Wings, this tour, and Simon to anyone! We hope to be able to return to Kruger again in the future, and when we do, we will book with Wild Wings!
Our safari was an absolute blast ...
From Peter & Judy, South Africa, travelled with us during March 2015
Dear Clare,
We cannot believe that our holiday is over and that we are back in Cape Town.
I thank you for the professional manner in with you handled our booking and for the prompt responses to the questions I had asked of you. This has to be the best experience I have had making any bookings in the past. You are a true asset to Wild Wings and they can be pleased that they have you as a consultant on their team.
Our safari was an absolute blast. We will be talking about our wonderful experience for many years to come. Simon was the best guide we could have wished for. His knowledge on the wild life was excellent, he did not just focus on the animals, he also spent time explaining all the bird species and small creatures we came across . This was so appreciated. His cooking skills were fantastic and we could not find anything that did not meet our requirements. There was always more than enough prepared for our meals. He made sure that we did not want for anything, he took great care of us. The safari programme lived up to all our expectations. If we had to rate Simon out of 10 we would give him a 10++.
We will certainly recommend Wild Wings to all our friends should they want to experience what we experienced.
We wish you and Simon everything of the best for the future.
