Day 3 and Day 4

Fig Tree Bush Camp

Two nights fully inclusive

After your morning safari activity and breakfast on Day 3, you will leave for Fig Tree Bush Camp, a tented safari camp nestled in one of the most remote parts of Kafue National Park. This intimate camp features four en-suite safari tents, elevated on 3-metre high platforms. Three tents overlook the Shishamba River, while the fourth offers views of the grassy plains and a bustling waterhole.

Each en-suite tent (two double and two twin) has a private veranda, and guests can relax in the infinity pool or enjoy game viewing from the water-facing boma, with wildlife frequently visiting the tranquil lagoon below. Fig Tree Bush Camp is named after a large fig tree under which guests gather for meals.

The 1.7 km long lagoon the camp overlooks maintains water throughout the season, attracting a diverse array of wildlife such as elephants, puku, impalas, warthogs, zebras, and hartebeests. Predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and even African wild dogs are regular visitors.

Twice-daily game drives offer excellent wildlife viewing opportunities and walking safaris (available from June to November) start early in the mornings to allow guests to explore the surroundings on foot and learn about the intricate ecosystem of Kafue National Park.

Day 5 to Day 7

Busanga Plains Camp

Three nights fully inclusive

After your game-viewing activity and breakfast on the morning of Day 5, you will head to the Busanga Plains, the crown jewel of Kafue National Park. This vast and diverse landscape in Northern Kafue is nourished by the Lufupa River, which flows into the Busanga Swamps.

During the rainy season, the wide-open spaces flood, creating lush grazing grounds for a wide variety of wildlife such as huge herds of red lechwe, puku, buffalo, blue wildebeest, Lichtenstein's hartebeest, defassa waterbuck, roan and oribi.

This high concentration of game attracts numerous predators, including lions, side-striped jackals, caracals, servals, genets and hyenas. For the following three days, you will explore Busanga Plains' grassy seasonal floodplains on game drives and foot. Walking safaris in the Busanga Plains are particularly rewarding because wildlife is easier to spot from a distance due to the vast openness of the plains.
