Classic safari-style Ongava Tented Camp is located in a secluded valley at the foot of a dolomite hill in Ongava Game Reserve bordering Etosha National Park.

Eight spacious Meru-style tents

All eight spacious Meru-style tents offer an en-suite bathroom with double basins, an indoor shower, an outdoor shower and a private, covered veranda. Amenities include a safe, a ceiling fan, a mosquito net, tea- and coffee-making facilities and a 220V power outlet. Six tents have twin beds, one tent has a double bed, and the family unit consists of two en-suite tents that can sleep up to four guests in total. The family unit is connected by a walkway.

The Ongava Tented Camp experience

The main stone, canvas and thatch dining room, bar and deck area have a campfire and waterhole views. There is an onsite curio shop, a swimming pool and WiFi connectivity in the lapa. When they are not on game drives, guests are invited to watch the passing wildlife drink from the waterhole while they relax by the pool or enjoy the views of the bush from their private verandas.

Shared game drives in Ongava Game Reserve are conducted by dedicated safari guides and birdwatching, guided nature walks, game drives in nearby Etosha National Park, and rhino-approaching activities are also available. Ongava has one of the largest populations of both black and white rhinos in Southern Africa. Ongava Tented Camp guests also enjoy access to the Ongava Research Centre Information Service and Visitor Centre to learn more about the centre's wildlife and plant ecology research.

Getting there

By air - There are private or charter aircraft flights directly to Ongava's airstrip inside the reserve. A daily air taxi service also connects to Windhoek (a one-and-a-half-hour flight)

By road
- From Windhoek via Okahandja and Otjiwarongo, it takes approximately four hours to reach Ongava Tented Camp by car. Speak to us about transfers.
