Meaning 'place of the giraffe' Nxabega is located in a private concession of 7,000 hectares in Botswana's Okavango Delta, in the south-east region of the Moremi Wildlife Reserve overlooking expansive lagoons and channels as well as a permanent reed floodplain. The small size of Nxabega ensures a luxury safari experience that is both exclusive and peaceful.
Luxury en-suite tents
Each of the inviting en-suite tented suites at Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp is linked to the main lodge by a sandy path through the bush, along the edge of the island. The luxury tents are raised on wooden platforms and are stylishly furnished with queen size beds, fans, private desks and beautifully appointed en-suite bathrooms.
Extensive viewing decks
The thatched main area is surrounded by large wooden decks on several levels, offering comfortable seating with beautiful views over permanent floodplains where game is plentiful. The guest area is filled with locally crafted furniture, stylish leather fittings and comfortable reed chairs. There are books and a fireplace - perfect for enjoying a nightcap during the colder months - and a well-stocked bar. The pool area is linked to the lodge by a raised walkway.
Private spa treatments
Nxabega offers a range of pampering wellness treatments and massages which you can enjoy in the privacy of your tented suite.
Sumptuous meals
Meals are plentiful, with breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and delectable three-course dinners included. Meals are often served alfresco out on the deck.
Game viewing
The twice-daily game drives take place in open safari vehicles, accompanied by an enthusiastic and experienced guide and tracker team. Common sightings include impala, zebra, kudu, baboon, hyena, jackal and giraffe. Elephant herds are common in the dry season and there are occasional sightings of lion, cheetah and African wild dog. Interpretive bush walks and mokoro excursions allow you to further explore the wilderness and delights of the delta.
Getting there
By air - Air Botswana operates scheduled flights to Maun or Kasane from OR Tambo International (Johannesburg). From there, it's a short flight by light aircraft to an airstrip in the bush, where you'll be welcomed by the staff. A two-hour drive in an open safari vehicle completes the journey to the camp.

Okavango Delta
There are few wild places on Earth that offer the same unique combination of spectacular wildlife, beautiful scenery, palm-fringed waterways, remote islands and vast unspoilt wilderness as Botswana's Okavango Delta. The Okavango swamps are formed by the annual flooding of the Okavango River, which opens into a vast life-giving oasis in Botswana's desert. The delta attracts huge numbers of wildlife due to the permanent water available here.
Chief's Camp
Chief's Camp is an idyllic luxury safari camp and one of only two lodges situated on Chief's Island in Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta – the only place in Botswana where rhinos can be found in their natural environment. The area around Chief's Island is seasonally submerged by floodwaters and offers exceptional game viewing all year round. Chief's Island is home to the Big Five and is known as the "predator capital of Africa".
