Private traversing area for excellent game viewing
Lion Sands has its own exclusive traversing area in one of the best game viewing areas within the greater Kruger National Park. Game drives are conducted by experienced rangers on open land rovers. A guided interpretive bush walk is also included each day.
Refreshingly refurbished
The recently refurbished rooms are spacious and the finishes are excellent. The 18 luxurious suites are connected by a wooden boardwalk, and all the rooms have either a bush or a river view. There are eight Luxury Rooms, six interleading Superior Luxury Rooms ideal for families and groups and four River Suites which are more secluded, each with a private deck, plunge pool and outdoor shower. All accommodation has air-conditioning, overhead fans and a modern en-suite bathroom.
Expansive game-viewing decks
The lodge features generous deck areas with big shady trees, and a powerful spotting scope allows you to get a close-up view of any wildlife or birds along the banks of the Sabie River. Lion Sands River Lodge boasts two swimming pools (one on either end of the lodge, and heated in winter).
Tasteful dining
Dining at Lion Sands River Lodge is always a feast, and usually complemented by some of the finest wines from the well-stocked cellar (note that only house wines are included in the price - cellar wines cost extra). Meals will either be enjoyed outside on the deck overlooking the river, in the dining room, or in the traditional boma (African reed enclosure) around a bonfire.

Sabi Sand Game Reserve
Bordering Kruger National Park, the Sabi Sand Game Reserve is a collection of privately-owned game reserves which have dropped their fences by mutual agreement. There is also no fence between the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and Kruger, allowing the free movement of animals through the reserve. Sabi Sand is without a doubt South Africa's top luxury safari destination and the best place in the world to see leopards in the wild.
5 Day Kruger Park and Private Lodge Safari
A guided safari in Kruger Park (using the national park camps) is quite different to a safari at a private game lodge. Both have their advantages. This trip idea combines two nights in Kruger, followed by two nights at a private game lodge for you to experience the best of both worlds. All game drives in open vehicles with expert and knowledgeable guides.
