Located on the banks of the Klaserie River, a Big Five causeway, Last Word Kitara is a luxurious five-star safari lodge that offers an intimate and unhurried boutique Greater Kruger wildlife experience.
Untouched riverside setting
Kitara's six luxury suites offer uninterrupted views of the Klaserie River which is well visited by the local wildlife. All six luxury suites have en-suite bathrooms with double basins, a Victorian bath and both indoor and outdoor showers. They are also outfitted with ceiling fans, air-conditioning and heating, a fully stocked minibar, tea- and coffee-making facilities and Healing Earth amenities. The comfortable mosquito-net draped beds can be made up as king or twins. Children from six years of age and older are welcome to share a suite with two full paying adults. Children pay 50% of the adult sharing rate. Each luxury suite has a private riverbed-facing patio where guests can enjoy the tranquil bush setting and watch the wildlife gathering to drink from the Klaserie River.
Relaxing guest areas
There are two lounge areas overlooking the Klaserie River that guests can relax in at the main lodge which is built beneath a towering, eight-hundred-year-old Jackalberry tree. The wildlife viewing deck and inviting infinity swimming pool also offer river views. Meals are served in the dining room and in the boma at night which also overlooks the Klaserie River.
Game viewing and other activities
Game drives take place in open safari vehicles and guests have the option of taking part in a guided walking safari as well. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served on the morning game drive and sundowner drinks and snacks on the afternoon game drive, always at scenic locations. The wildlife guests can expect to encounter on their game drives in Klaserie Private Nature Reserve includes elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard, many species of antelope, cheetah, spotted hyena and African wild dog. Because of its location on the riverbanks, the birdlife in the area surrounding Last Word Kitara is prolific. Southern Carmine Bee-Eaters, Brown-hooded Kingfishers and Pied Kingfishers are regularly spotted near the Klaserie River.
By car - Last Word Kitara is a six-hour drive by road from Johannesburg.
By air - Guests can fly to Hoedspruit and a transfer to Kitara can be arranged at an additional cost.
