Located in South Africa's Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, Camp George is an intimate, classic safari camp set on a dry riverbed under towering apple leaf and fever trees surrounded by natural gardens that feature rolling lawns and a collection of rare indigenous cycads.
Luxury Suites with private decks
Each of the eight thatched Luxury Suites at Camp George has a private terrace overlooking the dry riverbed, offering guests a front-row seat to the natural beauty of the bushveld. The air-conditioned suites feature elegant furniture crafted from indigenous wood and artistic touches, including large, hand-painted animal murals above the beds. Guests can choose between king-sized or twin beds.
The full en-suite bathroom includes a deep soaking tub, a double vanity, a separate toilet and indoor and outdoor showers. For families or small groups of friends, two inter-leading units can be combined to create a spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit.
Amenities include a ceiling fan, a minibar with drinks and snacks, tea- and coffee-making facilities, a hair-dryer, a mini-safe and an automated eco-friendly insect spray dispenser.
Main lodge
Camp George's main lodge features a comfortable sitting area with board games and reading material, a bar, a dining space that opens onto a terrace for al fresco dining and an outdoor boma that overlooks the dry riverbed.
Other guest facilities include a sparkling swimming pool surrounded by a well-kept fenced garden, a fully equipped gym, and an on-site spa. For families travelling with children no younger than eight years of age, Camp George offers family-friendly services, including dedicated wildlife activities for young explorers and babysitting services.
Game viewing experience
Guests at Camp George can enjoy a number of wildlife experiences, including twice-daily game drives, guided bush walks, and night drives. The Klaserie Private Nature Reserve is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including the Big Five – lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo, and elephant – as well as more elusive species like African wild dog and the rare Sharpe's grysbok. With fewer vehicles than other parts of the Greater Kruger, the Klaserie provides an uncrowded, intimate game-viewing experience.
Getting there
By road - The drive from Johannesburg to Camp George takes approximately six hours.
By air - Airlink and Comair operate daily flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Hoedspruit's East Gate Airport. Private charter flights can land on an airstrip close to Camp George.

Camp George is an elegant safari lodge in Klaserie Private Nature Reserve that strikes the perfect balance between authentic tradition and modern comforts. The staff are welcoming, friendly and exceptionally accommodating and the food at Camp George is delicious. We loved exploring the fenced-off grounds, which remain green and lush even during the dry season.
