Comfort deluxe

There are 8 centrally located waterhole-facing suites and 4 remote bush-facing suites. Each suite has an en-suite bathroom, verandah and outdoor private shower. They are all air-conditioned, and the comfortable twin or king-size beds are protected by mosquito nets. No two suites are alike with regard to interior decor, but they are all spacious and designed to let in light. The 4 bush-facing suites each have their own private plunge pool.

Excellent game viewing

Game drives are conducted on open safari vehicles in the early morning and in the late afternoon and the Big 5 are regularly seen. Their traversing area is in the northern Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which is known for providing superb game sightings. The afternoon game drive continues after sunset as a night drive, using spotlights to find those elusive nocturnal animals like leopard and honey badger. A guided bush walk with an armed ranger is also conducted each day after breakfast.

Luxurious main area

The central lounge and dining areas are open-sided under thatch, bringing the outside in. The furniture and decor help create an ambience of plush African luxury. The lounge area flows to the outside deck and rim-flow swimming pool overlooking the open plains.

Our take on Arathusa Safari Lodge

Arathusa is popular for very good reason. As a 4-star lodge, it's well-priced and offers a fantastic overall safari experience for those on a mid-range budget. The lodge has a stunning location and the view over the waterhole where wildlife often congregates is one of its main selling points. The food is good and we have found that the owners and managers are very responsive to guest feedback. We have no hesitation in recommending this lodge.

A guided safari in Kruger Park (using the national park camps) is quite different to a safari at a private game lodge. Both have their advantages. This trip idea combines two nights in Kruger, followed by two nights at a private game lodge for you to experience the best of both worlds. All game drives in open vehicles with expert and knowledgeable guides.
