Tarkuni is a luxurious exclusive-use, private homestead located in a secluded valley in the foothills of Korannaberg Mountain Range in malaria-free Tswalu Kalahari Game Reserve.

Ideal for families with children and groups of friends

The private, exclusive-use homestead can accommodate a maximum of 10 guests, including children, in five guest suites under one thatched roof. All the guest suites have spacious en-suite bathrooms with freestanding baths and indoor-outdoor showers and private outdoor verandahs with sun loungers.

Indoor-outdoor, communal spaces for relaxation

The sprawling lounge and dining room area with its central, double-sided fireplace is a great place for family and friends to come together and relax. Tarkuni Homestead also has a mezzanine library, a games room, a well-stocked wine cellar, an upstairs spa treatment suite, a 24-hour snack pantry with homemade treats and a full bar with an espresso coffee machine and a wide selection of teas.

The waterhole-facing outdoor living and dining spaces which are surrounded by indigenous gardens are shaded. They include a private gazebo for game viewing or an outdoor massage treatment, a sundowner firepit, a spacious outdoor boma and an eco-friendly plunge pool.

Luxury family-friendly safari experience

Guests staying at Tarkuni are attended to by a small team of dedicated staff, including a host, a personal chef, a private safari guide and a tracker in an exclusive-use safari vehicle. They also have access to facilities at The Motse which include a gym, a photographic Studio, a gallery and an art, jewellery, clothing and souvenir boutique.

Getting there

By air - Tarkuni operates daily scheduled flights from both OR Tambo International in Johannesburg (90-minute flight) and Cape Town International Airport (two-hour flight) direct to Tswalu Kalahari Game Reserve airstrip.
