Mashatu Tent Camp is a classic eco-safari tented camp in the northern reaches of Botswana's Mashatu Game Reserve, which has one of the largest herds of wild elephants on a private reserve in Africa and is famous for excellent predator viewing.
Private safari tents
Eight private eco-safari tents are mounted on raised concrete platforms beneath the branches of towering trees. The tents, which are accessible via winding walkways, are spacious and comfortable and boast solar-powered electrical points, fans, an outdoor patio and private outdoor ensuite bathrooms with a flush toilet and a shower.
Main camp
Mashatu Tent Camp's main guest area consists of an open-sided thatched gazebo where guests can relax and drink in the sights and sounds of the surrounding bush and where breakfast and lunch are served, a floodlit waterhole-facing traditional boma where campfire dinners are served at night and a plunge pool. Guests can cool off by the plunge pool between game drives during the day or watch animals come to drink at the waterhole from the comfort of a sturdy, shaded double-story hide.
Game viewing activities at Mashatu
Botswana's Mashatu Game Reserve is home to over 350 different bird species, one of the largest herds of wild elephants on private land in Africa, and the eight rivers that traverse the reserve ensure excellent predator viewing with daily sightings of leopard, lion and cheetah.
To ensure an intimate and authentic safari experience, game drives are conducted in open safari vehicles with a maximum of six guests per vehicle. For wildlife enthusiasts who want to explore Mashatu's diverse landscapes and experience its animals from a different perspective, mountain biking, horseback riding and walking safaris are available. Keen wildlife photographers can also book specialist tours to underground, waterhole-facing photographic hides with a professional photographer.
