Kruger Park Safari Camp Shop Guide – What You Can Buy & Tips
At Kruger National Park camp shops, you can buy a wide range of items to make your safari comfortable and memorable. This includes alcohol, soft drinks, snacks, fresh produce, souvenirs, safari clothing, wildlife books, cameras, binoculars, and other essentials. Tip: alcohol prices are higher inside the park, so consider purchasing it en route before entering.
Kruger Park Camp Shops – What to Expect on Your Safari
When you book a Kruger Park safari with us, you may wonder what shopping options are available at the camps. All main rest camps, such as Skukuza, Satara, Lower Sabie, and Bergendahl, have well-stocked retail facilities offering a mix of groceries, beverages, souvenirs, and safari essentials. Smaller Bushveld or Satellite Camps have no shops, but these are not part of our safari itineraries.
What's Available:
- Alcohol: Beer, wine, and spirits are available. Insider tip: prices inside the park are higher, so it's cost-effective to stock up before arrival.
- Drinks & Snacks: Soft drinks, fresh fruit juice, ice creams, dried fruits, and various snacks are available. Slush machines are popular for a cold treat.
- Groceries & Fresh Produce: You can find basics and some fresh produce, but our safaris typically include brunch and dinner, so this is more for personal extras.
- Souvenirs & Curios: African jewellery, ornaments, scarves, carry bags, stuffed toys, t-shirts, postcards, and other curios make perfect keepsakes.
- Safari & Photography Gear: Binoculars, small cameras, SD cards, batteries, hats, sunglasses, and clothing are available. Wildlife books and guidebooks help enhance your safari experience.
- Other Essentials: Cooler boxes, bug repellent, and everyday items you may need while exploring the park.
Practical Tips for Visiting Camp Shops:
- Timing Matters: Shops are open 07:00 – 19:00 daily. To avoid queues, try visiting early in the day or during off-peak hours.
- Chat with Staff: Ask for recommendations on local craft beers, unique souvenirs, or insider tips on new items.
- Watch Your Surroundings: Wildlife like monkeys and birds often roam near camp shops – keep your belongings secure.
- Plan for Longer Stays: While our safaris include two meals a day, guests staying longer in the park might consider stocking up on groceries and essentials beforehand.
Whether you're looking for a keepsake to remember your safari or practical items for your stay, Kruger Park camp shops offer a convenient one-stop solution that caters to both comfort and adventure.
