Hi Madi

Glad you like the photos, too. I’d never seen wild dogs before and we do realise how lucky we are to have seen them.

Your service = “Excellent” and to a very high standard. We happily recommend using Wild Wings Safaris. In fact I have a colleague who is considering visiting Africa next year and I’m recommending she makes contact.

Accommodation = Very contrasting accommodation at Shakuza [Skukuza] and Kambaku but we were very happy with both. We appreciated your recommendation to do both Kruger and a private game reserve as we could see the benefits of both once we reached Kambaku.

Meals = Kruger…Frank’s a great cook – what more can I say!

Meals = Timbavati – Wow great food. Lovely fresh and healthy food.

The Guides – Frank: we are so lucky to have had the best guide. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Frank again. He is very knowledgeable, very passionate about the animals and Kruger, and somehow just pulls it all together so that you see lots of animals, and a range of sightings that make you feel your trip was pretty special. Frank’s an incredibly hard worker as he had some very long days.

Timbavati Guide/Tracker: Both Niel and Eric were excellent. Very knowledgeable and going out of their way to meet your needs as much as possible. We were really pleased that Neil was able to fulfil our wish to see the Hyena den as we saw hyenas and several puppies. The two sightings of the leopard “Marula” were an absolute bonus. We loved the whole “off road” experience. Like Frank, Neil was great at just stopping, cutting the engine and letting you sit and watch the animals.

Game viewing: We are very pleased with the range of animals and birds that we saw. We definitely saw more animals in Kruger but we also had some very good sightings in Timbavati so we are more than happy. Ken has been comparing safari notes with a colleague that did a Top Deck tour and it sounds like we saw a lot more animals.

We did enjoy the Garden Route however I probably wouldn’t go back to that area again but I would do another safari again. I would go back to Cape Town to explore some more and would go to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek to explore the wineries. A local in Cape Town recommended Ken visit the Vintage Car Museum in Franschoek, which he did, and he really enjoyed. We love wine and had not had good experiences with SA’n wine before so we were really pleased to enjoy so many great wines while we were there. In fact 6 of them are now in our wine cellar.

We’re hoping that was only our first trip to South Africa

Kind regards,

Jude and Ken
