Flatdogs Camp
Flatdogs camp is easy to get to from the airport and makes a good first night’s stop into the park, especially arriving on a late flight from Lusaka to nearby Mfuwe Airport. The camp is open from mid-March to mid-January every year. For Jess and her team, making sure you have the best possible stay is what Flatdogs is all about.

Choice of Accommodation
There are 7 luxury safari tents which are on the Luangwa River banks. These tents are comfortable and spacious with en-suite bathrooms, with all the creature comforts yet giving you a close-to-nature feel. Light sleepers (wild animals do come through the camp at night) may prefer one of the four cool chalets. Each chalet has 2 bedrooms and is a good option for families and groups. Top of the range is the exciting Jackal-Berry Treehouse, booked way in advance.
Great Facilities
The main camp area is spacious and sprawling with an open-sided à la carte restaurant and bar. The camp is perfectly located with wonderful views of the river and passing game. Elephants and hippos are a daily occurrence. Relax and soak up the views on the generous decks and or around the swimming pool. Delicious meals are offered at very flexible times to suit your activities.
Game Activities
Flatdogs offers two daily activities, game drives and walking safaris which offer great value. The surrounds are rustic and untamed with far fewer vehicles and people in general so you get a personal, private, unhurried safari experience. The guides are superb and enthusiastic.
Getting There
Regular flights from Lusaka (just over an hour) connect to Mfuwe Airport, a ¾ hour drive from Flatdogs. It is possible to self-drive and do fly/drive combinations. Please let us know what you prefer and we will gladly advise.
Our Take on Flatdogs Camp
The staff is excellent and they go out of their way to help make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. The standards of the guides also impressed us; very knowledgeable, friendly and patient, especially with the children. The whole camp is clean, tidy, efficient and well-run. It offers unbeatable value, too. Easy to recommend.
