De Zeekoe Guest Farm is an owner managed working farm, a short drive from the Klein Karoo town of Oudtshoorn. De Zeekoe's name originates from the Dutch name for the farm: Zeekoegat, which means a waterhole for hippo.

The guest farm is located in the malaria-free Little Karoo, a semi-arid area to the north of the Garden Route, with surrounding towns like Oudtshoorn, George, Mossel Bay, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay all a short and breathtakingly scenic drive away. The area's main attractions are the Cango Caves and the Ostrich industry, with many show farms operating in the region.

Set in lush gardens, De Zeekoe Guest Farm has a wide and varied selection of accommodation to suit all guests' needs, ranging from superior suites with outdoor showers to rustic waterfront cabins. The superior suites are situated close to the main homestead whilst the luxurious en-suite rooms are located inside the old manor house. All rooms are luxuriously furnished with Persian carpets, ceiling fan, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, minibar, air-conditioning, hair dryer and towling gowns, and offers majestic views over the Outeniqua Mountains and the Olifants riverbed. Each suite is tastefully decorated with warm colours and soft textures. The 4 self-catering rustic waterfront cabins are a short drive away from the main house. The farm's old colonial homestead is more than 150 years old and has been sympathetically restored to its historic splendour.

Enjoy traditional Karoo cooking, with all fruit, vegetables and olives fresh and organically produced on the farm. The town of Oudtshoorn is just a few minutes' drive away and boasts a good number of excellently rated restaurants. To the north of Oudtshoorn is South Africa's largest natural cave system, the famous Cango Caves. Eco farm tours, horse riding, camel rides, self guided walks, birding, canoeing, fishing, biking, salt water pool, as well as meerkat tours are just some of the family-friendly activities available on or near the farm. For self-drive tourists, the area offers plenty of scenic views and drives, including the Swartberg mountain pass, Meiringspoort valley and waterfall, and Rust-en-Vrede waterfall.

We have no hesitation in recommending De Zeekoe for your stay in the Oudtshoorn area, and once you have booked we will provide you with a map and directions. Secure parking is available on site at the main house.
