Best of Garden Route Budget Tour - 4 Day Guided Adventure Itinerary

Day 1

Our guided four-day Best of Garden Route Budget Tour leaves from Cape Town/Stellenbosch early in the morning. Our road trip takes us along scenic Route 62 through spectacular winding mountain passes and past rivers, orchards and sleepy towns famous for their award-winning wines. Our destination is Oudtshoorn, the Ostrich Capital of the World, in the Little Karoo. We stop for lunch and wine tasting at a local winery before heading to the Cango Caves.

After exploring the Cango Caves on a guided adventure tour, we check-in at our accommodation and gather around the fire for a traditional South African braai (barbeque).

Day 2

After breakfast, we leave Oudtshoorn and take the scenic Robertson Mountain Pass to Mossel Bay on the seaside. There, you can either spend the morning lazing on one of Mossel Bay's spectacular beaches (the weather is always fantastic in Mossel Bay) or hike the Cape St. Blaize trail along the cliffs which overlook the Indian Ocean.

Alternatively, you can ask us to pre-book an optional adventure or cultural activity of your choice such as:

• a 10,000-foot Tandem Skydive
• sandboarding the longest dune in South Africa
• a visit to the historical Diaz Museum Complex which commemorates the first documented European voyage around the tip of Africa
• a Point of Human Origins Cave Tour along the coastline

The afternoon sees us going on a game drive in a private game reserve in search of zebra, lion, various antelope species and African buffalo. The evening is spent at your leisure in the town of Mossel Bay where you have a number of great seaside restaurants and trendy local pubs to choose from for dinner.

Day 3

We leave Mossel Bay after breakfast and follow the coastline route to Tsitsikamma National Park. En route, we make a stop at Bloukrans Bridge to look at the highest bungee jump in the world (216-metre drop into the gorge). We spend the afternoon exploring the indigenous forests and dramatic coastline of the Tsitsikamma National Park.

There are a number of activities inside the park. They include hiking, crossing the suspension bridge and swimming. There is also a variety of optional activities you can pre-book with us including:

• the 216-metre Bloukrans Bungee Jump
• a Zipline Adventure
• a Storms River Kayak and Lilo Adventure

In the late afternoon, we leave the Tsitsikamma and head to the coastal village of Sedgefield. There, you can spend some time exploring the beaches before gathering for dinner which is a potjie, a traditional South African stew made in a large cast-iron pot on an open fire.

Day 4

Day 4 sees us canoeing and hiking in Wilderness National Park after breakfast. Wilderness is a small seaside village about 23 kilometres away from Sedgefield so there'll be plenty of time to explore the Touw River by canoe, a winding strip of water that feeds lakes and estuaries.
