Map of our 10 Day Bush and Beach Holiday

Day 1

Kruger I South Africa

You'll be collected from OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg at 07h00 and taken to the Kruger National Park in an air-conditioned minibus. When you arrive at Kruger in the afternoon, you'll transfer to an open safari vehicle and start the first game drive en-route to your camp for the night.

Because we use camps in the Kruger that are situated in the best game viewing areas, you'll be in for a treat the moment you enter the park.

Once you get to camp and you've checked into your bungalow, there'll be time to freshen up before convening for dinner which is served in the camp restaurant or alfresco, weather permitting. We normally try to include a traditional South African “braai” or barbecue on the first night.

Day 2

Kruger I South Africa

We always head out on morning game drives before the sun rises because that's when the chances of spotting wildlife are best. Get ready for an early start. Your guide will provide you with coffee and some traditional South African rusks before you head off or they might decide to stop at a picnic spot along the way instead.

On one of the mornings, you'll have the opportunity to go on a guided bush walk with an armed Parks Board ranger where you can experience the African bush on foot. The ranger will point out animal spoors, show you interesting plants and explain how they can be used. With some luck, you may even encounter some wild animals from afar.

PLEASE NOTE: The bush walk is not compulsory, it is subject to availability and it is weather dependent.

When the morning game drive (or bush walk) is done, you'll return to camp for a hearty brunch (late breakfast). Afterwards, there'll be time to relax. You can watch animals from the viewing deck if you want, or you can retire to your air-conditioned bungalow for a siesta. If you prefer, you can cool down by the swimming pool, or spend time browsing in the curio shop instead.

In the afternoon, we head out on another game drive in search of the Big 5 and other wildlife like giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and various antelope species. We return to camp by sunset where dinner is once again enjoyed outside around the fire, or in the camp restaurant.

Day 3

Kruger I South Africa

On Day 3, we delve deeper into the safari experience. It's also the day that you pack up and make your way to another camp (subject to availability). Your second Kruger camp will be in a different area of the national park and the move will give you the chance to experience the diversity of habitat and vegetation the Kruger is famous for. This change in scenery will also provide you with different game viewing opportunities.

Day 4

Kruger I South Africa

Another day of game driving awaits. As on previous days, we head out in the early morning and late afternoon as the animals are more active when the sun isn't so hot. You can expect stops at waterholes, scenic viewpoints and picnic sites along the way where you’re permitted to leave the vehicle to stretch your legs.

A sunset drive or late-night drive with spotlights will be conducted by a Parks Board ranger on one the four evenings. You’ll be taken out in an open truck and the ranger will use powerful spotlights to find the more elusive nocturnal animals.

Day 5

Hazyview I South Africa

Day 5 marks the end of your Kruger safari experience. After your final early morning game drive, you'll have breakfast, pack up and be transferred to the quaint town of Hazyview, arriving there around 13h00.

There is any number of ways you can choose to spend this afternoon. You can check into your room at Perry’s Bridge Hollow Boutique Hotel if you're interested in some downtime that afternoon, or you can book a half-day afternoon tour to visit some of the highlights along South Africa's spectacular Panorama Route.

PLEASE NOTE: The Half-Day Panorama Route Tour is an optional addition which costs extra. Please ask your consultant for further details.
