More about this accommodation
Tanda Tula Safari Camp in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve is the oldest and arguably one of the most luxurious tented safari camps in southern Africa, set amongst indigenous riverine bush, overlooking a river.
Deluxe Safari Accommodation
The East-African style tents are safely tucked under a wooden frame to provide extra protection. Each has an en-suite bathroom with an inside and outside shower. The tents are spacious and comfortable, keeping you safe and dry while being able tohear the rustling of wildlife close by (the camp is unfenced). If you'd prefer a more rustic experience, ‘sleep-outs' are arranged at the hide overlooking the water hole.
Prime Game Viewing
This area is well known for its frequent sightings of elephant, lion and leopard. Whether you prefer to watch wildlife from the privacy of your own wooden deck, from the open-sided bar overlooking the watering hole, or on a guided game drive or walk, you are sure to experience up-close wildlife encounters.
In between game viewing activities, you can relax at the infinity pool (often visited by elephant and buffalo), or you could allow yourself to be pampered at the private, open-air therapy hide situated on the edge of the watering hole.
Choose whether you'd prefer to enjoy international cuisine under thatch or shady trees, next to the pool or around a crackling fire in the boma (traditional African reed enclosure). Breakfasts are served on a river bed after your morning game drive.
Tanda Tula is owner-run. The rangers, hosts and staff make each guest feel special and welcome whilst respecting their need for privacy. Tanda Tula means ‘love of the quiet' and this is what visitors to this camp will be ensured of - in spades.
Two flights daily from Johannesburg connect to Hoedspruit's East Gate airport, which is a 45-minute road transfer from Tanda Tula. By road, it's approximately a 5½ hour journey from Johannesburg. Charter flights and road transfers can easily be arranged.
