More about this accommodation
Closed due to fire damage. Re-opening late 2018.
Nestled in the heart of the Garden Route on a secluded country estate, Knysna Hollow is a gracious and welcoming boutique hotel, set on a tranquil country estate on South Africa’s picturesque Garden Route. It’s the perfect base from which to explore the myriad attractions and endless activities this beautiful area has to offer.
Choice of Elegant Accommodation
At Knysna Hollow, you can choose between 15 spacious Garden Chalets and 64 Garden Rooms which surround sparkling swimming pools. Or you can opt for more luxury and exclusivity in one of the eight Superior Eco Estate rooms tucked away in a quiet corner of the estate, overlooking a dam. All the rooms are en-suite with ceiling fans, tea and coffee facilities, satellite tv and covered patios. The Garden Chalets also have an open-plan living area and romantic fireplaces. Some of the rooms, chalets and eco-rooms can be converted to family rooms – making Knysna Hollow ideal for family groups and get-togethers.
Set on two hectares of indigenous gardens, there is plentiful birdlife and several interesting walks, some through indigenous forests. It’s a short walk to the famous Knysna lagoon. The outdoor games are a feature of Knysna Hollow, with a full-size Petanque court with a Boulle set and a giant-size chess board in the Rose Garden.
Many Local Attractions
Knysna is known as the Jewel of the Garden Route. Its expansive lagoon offers a wealth of activities from watersports and boating; you can enjoy many scenic drives or hikes through ancient, indigenous forests; for golfers, there’s a choice of world-class golf course with fabulous views; treetop canopy adventures; township tours; visits to the Knysna elephants and, of course, expansive white beaches, some in national reserves.
Knysna itself bustles with interesting craft and international shopping outlets, eateries, coffee shops, the Quays, Thesen Island and is famous for its oysters and craft breweries.
Please let us know if you’d like to hire a car or you’d prefer us to recommend some interesting day tours and adventures in and around the area.
Knysna Hollow is very active with local outreach programmes to assist and uplift the local communities. Its main focus is to provide bicycles in return for work done to promote environmental conservation: especially tree planting, waste recycling and food farming. Bicycles are a healthy, carbon neutral and time-saving way of getting people mobile.
Knysna Hollow is only 45 minutes from George and 2.5 hours from Port Elizabeth, both of which have airports. It’s easily accessible from the scenic N2 highway. A meet & greet airport service is available as well as a town shuttle service.
