Luxury Safari Tents
Belmond Eagle Island Camp offers 12 spacious en-suite safari-style tents, each raised on a wooden platform and shaded by a traditional African thatched roof, each with great views from the private deck. Every room has a fully-stocked mini bar as well as a hair dryer, shaving mirror and a "his & hers" vanity unit. Air conditioning, overhead fans and electric heaters feature in every room as well as an internal telephone to reception and other tents. For those who are looking for the ultimate safari experience, Eagle Island Camp offers the luxurious honeymoon suite. It features all the standard features of the safari tents as well as a heated private plunge pool, outside bathroom with bath tub and a large deck for private dining and excellent game viewing.
Exceptional Game Viewing Area
The area around Eagle Island Camp offers superb game and bird viewing opportunities. All game viewing activities on the island are conducted by professional safari guides. Guided game and bird walks can be arranged as well as exploring the waterways by motorised boats, mokoro (dug out) canoes or in the 14-seater sundowner cruiser. Game drives in open 4x4 vehicles are conducted between October and March, when water levels are low enough. Enjoy a spectacular aerial view of the Okavango during a private helicopter flight, included in your stay. The lodge also now offers a hot air balloon activity, departing from Kadizora Camp, that will operate from May-November.
The public areas have been fully rebuilt to include a stylish dining area with a pizza oven, a lounge area with an artisan-style bar, a library, a separate campfire area and the popular Fish Eagle Bar which is located directly on the water. Local artisans and materials were used throughout the renovations.
Eagle Island Camp can be reached by light aircraft transfer from Maun or Kasane. It is one of the most luxurious safari camps in the Okavango Delta, and with the helicopter flight included offers great value for money. Eagle Island Camp can best be combined with Khwai River Lodge and Savute Elephant Camp, its sister camps with the same high standards of accommodation and game viewing.
