The region is home to 450 animal species, including large elephant herds, making this a popular game viewing destination. There are several national parks in the area; Bwabwata, Mamili and Mudumu. Wildlife passes freely across the border to Chobe National Park. The area is also a hot birding spot with almost 70% of Namibia's species recorded.
