The Protea Hotel Kruger Gate is a welcoming upmarket hotel situated only 100 metres from the Paul Kruger Gate of the Kruger National Park.  This luxury lodge-style hotel on the banks of the Sabie River offers an affordable bush experience and resort facilities catering for the whole family, the ideal location from which to experience wildlife first hand. Most rooms look out on the Kruger Park, along with many viewing areas and places to sit where you can see the wildlife a stone's throw away!

Each of the 96 luxury air-conditioned en-suite rooms will make you feel part of the African bush.  All rooms feature air-conditioning, television, mini-bar fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. The lodge features raised wooden walkways through lush subtropical gardens. One of the hotel's most unique facilities is the Tree House which provides the opportunity to sleep out under the stars.

A sumptuous buffet-style breakfast is served at the hotel, while lunch is a la carte and served on the wooden sundeck, overlooking the Sabie River.  Dinner is an unforgettable African bush experience, usually in a boma under the stars or in the main dining area. Enjoy true African cuisine whilst being entertained by Shangaan traditional dancers, African choral groups and marimba bands.

Leisure activities at the hotel include mini-golf, a tennis court, volleyball, table tennis and a children's playground.  The refreshing swimming pool is located next to the bar where guests can sit back and relax while absorbing the amazing sounds of nature. The popular expansive viewing deck offers views into the National Park and of course excellent game viewing opportunities.  The African Mobile Spa offers a range of treatments in the privacy of your own room.  The hotel offers bush drives and open vehicle safaris as well as organised game trails throughout the Kruger National Park as optional extras (not included in the price). This hotel is an excellent base from which to explore not only the wildlife of the Kruger Park, but also the scenery, view points and waterfalls of the Panorama Route, and the many different activities available in the surrounding area. Protea Hotel Kruger Gate is a 30 minute drive from Hazyview, or an easy 5.5 hour drive from Johannesburg.  Alternatively, fly into the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in Nelspruit from where you can either be collected or hire a car.
