More About Madikwe Safari Lodge

Madikwe Safari Lodge has a commanding position, overlooking game-filled plains, the Dwarsberg Hills and the Marico River. The lodge offers excellent game viewing and simple yet sophisticated accommodation. With earthly plastered walls, rough wooden beams and dry packed stone work, the lodge appears to grow out of the red African soil like a gigantic termite mound.  The conical roofs and chimneys blend perfectly into the surrounding bushveld.

The lodge offers 20 suites, split into three camps.  Each architecturally designed suite features a sitting area, bedroom with circular fireplace, spacious dressing area and en-suite bathroom with large bath, double vanities and indoor and outdoor shower. All rooms also have air-conditioning, fridge with complimentary drinks, hairdryer, travel adapters and a gym in a bag! On the balcony is a private plunge pool and sun loungers - the ideal way to spend time between the game drives.

Intimate seating areas in all three camps feature shaded outdoor seating on expansive covered decks, overlooking Madikwe's game-filled plains.  There are fireplaces both inside and out, as well as a traditional boma, which is the setting for many a sumptuous dinner. All meals are of excellent standard - plentiful food, good choice plus childrens menu if necessary. Morning and afternoon teas also include cakes and savouries and during each game drive additional refreshments are provided.

Twice daily game drives are conducted on open Land Rovers, and the game viewing is usually very good. The game rangers have a deep knowledge of the local wildlife and will do their best to cater for guests' specific interests. Madikwe Safari Lodge offers a personal touch that will leave you feel pampered and let you experience true South African hospitality.

This popular malaria free reserve is 3 to 4 hours by road from Johannesburg, or about 40 minutes by charter plane, in the North West Province of South Africa, against the border with Botswana. We will be happy to arrange return flights, road transfers or a rental car for you.
