More About Londolozi Varty Camp
Londolozi Varty Camp was built on the site of the original Sparta hunting camp, in tribute to the early beginnings of Londolozi, which has been in the Varty family for more than 80 years, and the camp is often referred to as the 'heart and soul of Londolozi'. The camp is situated in the northern Londolozi Reserve.
Londolozi is one of the best known and loved South African Private Game Reserves, occupying a prime spot in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and rated as one of the best game experiences in Southern Africa. Londolozi was created by the Varty brothers whose commitment to wildlife preservation and nature conservation is world renowned. Meaning "protector of all living things" in Zulu, Londolozi is home to the famous Big 5 and is also said to have the best leopard viewing in their natural environment. Londolozi Game Reserve is a 14 000-hectare (34 580 acres) wildlife paradise situated on the Sand River, in the heart of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve, which shares an unfenced border with the Kruger National Park.
Varty Camp offers 8 luxurious chalets and two superior chalets. All rooms have private plunge pools and timber decks. The living spaces are raised off the ground and shaded under a cathedral of trees. Each en-suite bathroom features a capacious tub, from where you can savour the uninterrupted views of the riverine bush. All suites also boast under floor heating and an outdoor shower. Pan-African cuisine is served in the dining area overlooking the Sand River or in the large boma. Varty Camp is also home to the reserve's boutique, the Cardio Vascular Room, Massage Treatment Room and library with internet access.
Varty Camp welcomes children and a special children's programme is in place to keep little ones busy.
Two daily game drives on open land rovers are included, led by an experienced ranger and local tracker. An optional guided bush walk with an armed ranger is also available daily.
We have visited Londolozi a few times and have always been very impressed with the warm and friendly atmosphere, the high standards of service, attention to detail, quality of accommodation, and most importantly, the game drives. We have no hesitation in recommending Londolozi Varty Camp.
