More About Kwando Kwara Camp
Kwando Kwara Camp accommodates 16 guests in the luxury of 8 safari styled tents. Each tent is raised on a wooden deck facing the floodplain. From the private viewing decks guests are likely to enjoy views of the resident hippos wading in the shallow waters. The luxury tents all feature en suite facilities with hot and cold running showers (both inside and outside) and flush toilets.
The camp has a beautiful honeymoon suite for those looking for a romantic private safari experience. This spacious suite features twin wash basins, large outdoor shower as well as a traditional ball and claw feet bathtub. The honeymoon suite has its own private viewing deck from which guests may enjoy the beauty of an African sunset.
Activities at Kwando Kwara Camp are conducted by experienced safari guides, and the camp offers one of the best year-round Okavango Delta experiences. The game viewing at Kwara is spectacular, and the game drive vehicles are able to go off-road to get closer to the animals, which is great for photographers. The afternoon game drive carries on after dark as a night drive with spotlights, in search of nocturnal species. Keep in mind that the vehicles at Kwara are completely open without any canopies, so bring a wide brim hat. Ponchos are offered during the rainy season.
Apart from game drives, guests can enjoy quiet mokoro (dug-out canoe) trips through the waterways and visit the heronry at Godikwe Lagoon. Another popular option is the sunset river cruise on the double-decker powerboat. Fishing activities as well as birding in the area are rewarding all year round. Walking safaris with an armed ranger and tracker on the surrounding islands offer you close up encounters with the smaller wonders of the wild.
The main lodge at Kwara is a thatched structure built into the shade of trees overlooking the lagoon. There is a comfortable dining and lounge area as well as a fully-stocked bar. The lounge area features a selection of entertaining books and games. The camp also features a gift shop and a refreshing plunge pool.
Kwara can be reached by light aircraft from Maun or from one of the other Kwando camps. A good option is to combine a few nights at Kwara with a few nights at Kwando Lebala or Kwando Lagoon camps.
