More About Elephant Plains Game Lodge

Elephant Plains Game Lodge in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve offers affordable luxury and unbeatable game viewing. The lodge is elevated and situated on a dry river bed overlooking a permanent watering hole.  This provides guests with stunning views over the African plains and magnificent game viewing whilst relaxing on the pool deck.

Elephant Plains offers a choice of accommodation in one of 6 glass fronted luxury suites or one of the 5 standard rondavels (African style round bungalow). The suites all have a lounge, en-suite bathroom, inside and outside shower and the intimacy of a private viewing deck. The suites also include air conditioning, a fireplace, mosquito nets, overhead fan and electronic safes. The rondavels have a sundeck and en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning, mosquito nets and electronic safe.

Game viewing at Elephant Plains is always rewarding, and you have an excellent chance of seeing some of the big cats like lions and leopards. The afternoon game drive continues after sundowners as a night drive with a powerful spotlight, looking for nocturnal animals. A guided bush walk is offered each day. The lodge also offers the chance to relax and unwind in the fitness facility and African Health Spa. Cool down on a hot afternoon in one of the two swimming pools, with a view over the bush. In the evenings trained rangers will be able to treat you to an evening of star gazing under the magical African sky.

Meal times at the lodge are an unforgettable culinary experience, with the choice of international cuisine or South African specialities. Breakfast and lunch are enjoyed in the dining room or on the deck and dinners are served around a logfire in the boma (reed enclosure) under sparkling skies.

Elephant Plains offers first class service, comfort and luxury at an excellent price. It is one of South Africa's prime safari desinations and we can highly recommend it.

Feedback Related To Elephant Plains Game Lodge

We had a wonderful time at Elephant Plains, thank you very much. We were quite prepared to forfeit the lunch and game drive on the day of arrival and just take a relaxing drive up as we did 9 hours of travelling the day before, but they sent the Land Rover back for us which we really appreciated. We were fortunate to see all of the big 5, including 2 leopard with kills! Our guests (and ourselves) were truly impressed. Mornè and Prince (the ranger and tracker) were very good. The rondavels were lovely and kept very well. Loved the bath!!

The only thing we did not like was the set-up in the boma. The idea is great but with the tables set out in a circle it makes conversations at dinner awkward if you are a party of 4 or more. Fortunately we only had dinner in the boma once. Otherwise all was great, will definitely recommend Elephant Plains if I hear of someone who wants to go that way.

Keep well,

Liza Labuschagne

Feedback Related To Elephant Plains Game Lodge

Hi Dianne

We had a great time on our safari.  I have many positive comments.  I truly appreciate your attention once you took over our trip and was very pleased that you emailed me prior to our departure from home and called to make sure Simon had picked us up.

I cannot say enough about Simon. He was fantastic. He was very knowledgable, enthusiastic, and easy to get along with. The kids loved him and we all learned a lot from him. He had a true love for his job and the Kruger Park, and it was infectious. After  a full day of game drives he was out looking for scorpions, owls, and bush babies!  He truly spoiled us for any future guides and the kids have already said they want to go on another safari with him. We all felt lucky to have been able to have him as our guide. We saw so much more with Simon as our guide and am very glad that we didn't just drive to Kruger on our own.

We also had a good experience at Elephant Plains. The staff was very nice and attentive.  Food was very good and rooms comfortable yet cold. The only negative we had was with our guide (Wayne) who seemed to be going through the motions and we got none of the same enthusiasm from him that we felt with Simon. We only spent 2 days there, 4 game drives, but in that time he made no effort to learn our names and to us it seemed that he just drove around and waited for other guides to radio him with sightings.  That being said it was a good combination of trips and we are very pleased with how it worked out.  When I planned this trip I picked your company "out of the blue" and it all worked out so well.  If you ever need me as a reference I would be pleased to help out. We hope to return to Africa in the future and will definetly look to your company first.

Thanks for everything,

Steve, Mary, Will, and Sam Reichel

The Kruger National Park is South Africa's premier safari destination. At over 2 million hectares in size it is the largest national park in South Africa, and one of the most accessible yet unspoilt wilderness areas in Africa. Adjacent to the Kruger National Park are a number of private game reserves which share unfenced boundaries with the park. Examples of these are the Timbavati and Sabi Sand Game Reserves, which are home to a variety of private game lodges. The whole conservation area is known as the greater Kruger National Park.
