More About Camp Shonga

Camp Shonga shares the same private concession area as its sister lodges Camp Shawu and Shishangeni Private Game Lodge. Each of the 5 air-conditioned, fully equipped tents has a romantic en-suite bathroom, as well as an outdoor shower. Guests can enjoy the view from the private viewing deck, or enjoy a cozy evening by the fireplace in the winter months. In keeping with the camp's intimate nature, Camp Shonga can accommodate a maximum of only 10 guests.

Camp Shonga is located deep within the well-known Kruger National Park, home to the "Big 5" - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. Other wildlife often seen in this area includes giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hippo, waterbuck, cheetah, wild dogs and of course impalas. Game drives are conducted on open 4x4 safari vehicles with expert guides, and the game viewing in this area is fantastic.

Camp Shonga's guests can take a refreshing dip in the outdoor swimming pool, or stroll up to the main area to relax in the open lounge. The main area also has a large wooden deck, where guests can enjoy a drink or delicious meal, while taking in the gorgeous scenery. In the evenings, delicious traditional cuisine is served in the camp's outdoor boma (reed enclosed dining area). Guests enjoy their meal around a roaring fire, with nothing but the African night sky overhead.

Access to camp Shonga is by road transfer from Nelspruit (the transfer takes about 2 hours). Alternatively, you can rent a car with us and drive yourself to the lodge. Camp Shonga offers good value for money and a great safari experience.
