More About Bakubung Bush Lodge
The crater of a long extinct volcano is the fascinating setting of Pilanesberg National Park, one of the largest volcanic complexes of its kind in the world. Over time, wind and water have carved a spectacular landscape with rocky outcrops, open grasslands, wooded valleys and thickets.
In the heart of this ancient volcanic complex, Bakubung combines the bush with luxury and great service. The lodge offers 76 air-conditioned studio rooms with thatched roofs, as well as 66 self-catering chalets. Each en-suite room is fully equipped with a direct dial telephone, tea/coffee making facilities, colour TV with DSTV, hairdryer, electric shaver point and internet connectivity. All rooms have doors leading onto either a balcony or a patio, with sweeping views of the park and the hippo pool.
The public areas feature facilities like tennis courts, a restaurant and bar, swimming pool, internet lounge, spa, as well as a touch screen television indicating animal sightings. The restaurant caters for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and has themes on different days, ranging from African and Asian to Indian. On Wednesday and Saturday nights there is an option to book a traditional South African bush braai (barbeque) in the boma.
The lodge offers early morning and late afternoon game drives into the Pilanesberg National Park, which are led by professional game rangers. The Pilanesberg National Park can also be accessed by private vehicles for those who prefer to drive themselves around. A shuttle to nearby Sun City is available for guests who would like to visit this award-winning resort complex with its golf courses, theatres and casino.
