More About Exeter River Lodge
The luxurious Exeter River Lodge is perfectly situated in a leafy evergreen thicket on the banks of the Sand River in the Sabi Sand Reserve. Each of the eight sumptuous suites overlooks the water where you have a good chance of spotting some of the more common animals of the area coming down for a drink.
A visit to Exeter River Lodge would be unusual were you not to see all or at least some of the Big 5. Daily morning and evening game drives are conducted by armed guides and trackers. Some of the wildlife you may see are kudu and impala, elephant, giraffe, warthog, zebra and wildebeest. This area is well known for its sightings of Leopard and if you're lucky you may even spot a cheetah or African wild dog, making up the ‘Big 7'.
An armed tracker will lead you on a bushwalk close to the lodge and show you the smaller more intimate wonders of the bush savanna and riverine forest. The trackers and guides at River Lodge are known to be informative and talented and are sure to add an element of fun to your exclusive safari experience.
The eight luxury suites at River Lodge each have a private plunge pool and deck from which you may spot the occasional baboon and bushbuck. The suites are very luxurious without losing that casual safari bush feel. Gourmet meals are served in the privacy of your own deck or on the shared open air dining deck. The staff at the lodge are very friendly and attentive and go out of their way to make your stay a relaxing and treasured one.
Guests can choose to travel to River Lodge via road (about 5 hours from Johannesburg) or by air to Nelspruit or the Ulusaba airstrip in the Sabi Sands. The flight from Johannesburg to Ulusaba is about one and a half hours.
